The Future of My Business
I faced many challenges over the course of my experimental business venture, but every new challenge provided a learning experience unlike anything I have ever had before. This business pushed many of my skills to their limits, and forced me to learn extremely fast in order to complete the task at hand. I had to learn how to communicate exactly what I could do and what I could not do in a very clear and concise way, as to avoid undertaking projects that warranted an end result that I could not deliver. In addition, I had to become very skilled at cost estimation in order to give accurate quotes to my customers up front. Finally, I had to learn an enormous variety of technical skills in a very short period of time.
As these skills improved over time, I became increasingly confident with my business and began to take on increasingly difficult projects. Every new project gave me the skill and confidence to take on an even bigger project for the next customer. At the end of the first year of my business, both my business skills and technical skills had easily doubled. In addition, I had developed a small but loyal customer base which provided excellent feedback and funding for my work. All in all, my business venture did not generate a massive income in the early years, but I can't begin to put a price on what I learned from those projects. Keep in mind, however, that this learning experience is nowhere near over. In fact, I intend to keep running this business as a side project until I can either make a decent profit or run out of time to operate the business altogether. Before providing full write-ups of new projects, I will post some highlights from each new project below as my business moves forward. I hope this venture was as enjoyable to view as it was for me to undertake, and thanks for reading!
